Another great pres.
Another great pres.
1. javascript support
this is probably the biggest thing that i really need right now - i presumed that posterous had javascript already active because of the ability to use tumblr themes. i should have spotted that straight away really when they ask for your analytics code in the admin settings. i'm pretty sure javascript is coming and i think it will be one of the pro features maybe. looking forward to seeing what the pro accounts bring actually. sign me up! - i'm guessing that tumblr will go this way pretty soon as well maybe for storage and video solutions - makes sense what with all the cloud offerings bartering for that little disposable income payment each month.2. plugin support (would love to port some moveabletype ones)
i do miss plugins from having a moveabletype/wordpress blog as some fantastically useful plugins exist on those platforms but for some reason the added problem of hosting the site, maintaining the cms system and having plugins work with each other has at times been a pain. sounds like i'm talking myself out of plugins here for a moment but i'm not, some of the SEO ones would be very useful to get a bit more optimisation going on that front. i would definitely look at making a rezpondr api plugin for videos as that is the way i want to take rezpondr. a series of fixed format themes and widgets you can buy for your blogging platform whatever it maybe.3. autolink support for keywords
i would love the ability to have word replacement changed to urls. for instance if i type 'rezpondr' i would like it to automatically scan my sent post and auto replace any keywords i have put in the autolink manager. you could probably do this for tagging as well. set a flag that if it finds that word use it as a tag. that would be very useful for a mobile media maker on the road to have the autotagging done for him based on keywords that he/she might use often.4. moveabletype importer script needs some work - some posts only titles bought in
i have some problems with the moveabletype importer at the moment, some of the blogposts i bought in from my MT blog only have the titles on them instead of the complete blogpost. i'm presume it is because of the editor that i used when i wrote them and i guess that the importer code is quite simple in scanning for what it can import. hoping they look at it and fix it. i sent them my exported .txt file from moveabletype so i hope they take a look.5. stumbleupon or su.pr api support for tracking the shorturl
i'm sure this will be something that will be opened up when they bolt an api on the side of posterous but i would really like to use stumbleupon/su.pr for my links instead of the post.ly address so i can track my links a little better. or, just give me analytics on my links - i'm sure that is something they are tracking but just have no linked up to the admin yet.6. ping.fm support
would make perfect sense to support ping.fm via their api as another destination and target - i have a whole bunch of sites wired up in there and being able to fire them to those sites in one go via a post would be very useful. got to have a think about all these 1click to post everywhere sites, i need to have a variety of ways i can setup each service as backups for when i am mobile so that it can have multiple entry paths without causing duplication. What things would you like to see on posterous?
Phil has nailed it with this. I was thinking the same thing recently about what I'd love to see make it to Posterous.
Data via trends.google.comSince it was acquired, I have basically abandoned Friendfeed. I love the service, but I am waiting to see how the team integrates it into Facebook.
Unsurprisingly, traffic to the Friendfeed site has plummeted since the acquisition in August. And Posterous now has nearly as much traffic (Posterous is the red line above), but trails Tumblr by a wide margin and Twitter by light years.
What does this say about the future of lifestreaming services? I still see a big space in between in between blogs and Twitter that allows you to have a hub and spoke strategy and post in multiple formats. That's one reason I am bullish about both Posterous and Tumblr.
